Georgia’s journey is a testament to resilience and the human spirit. After the tragic loss of her 15-year-old son, she faced a downward spiral marked by depression, divorce, and an abusive relationship that left her hospitalized. With no financial support and nowhere to turn, she endured 5 1/2 years of homelessness, battling the elements. Despite her hardships, she persevered, tirelessly seeking assistance.

After a lengthy wait on a housing waiting list, Georgia secured a Section 8 voucher. However, her disability income was entirely consumed by rent and utilities, leaving her with no resources. For four months, she slept on the floor, desperately seeking help. A ray of hope emerged when she reached out to the Make a Home Foundation, which stepped in to provide her with the essential furnishings needed to transform her empty apartment into a true home.
